In Buddhism, Jambhala is the equivalent of the Hindu God Kubera, the God of wealth. After thousands of years of extreme austerities, Brahma granted him with Immortality, made him the God of wealth and Guardian of treasures and good health.
In Buddhism, Jhambala is always associated with the north and Jambhala-Vaisravana guards this direction as he is one of the Four Lokpalas.
Jhambala has many features, often young, his face is dark, he holds a sword in his right hand while his left hand is filled with jewels which sometimes falls from a mongoose’s mouth.
His consort is Vasudhara, the bestower of wealth.
