MEDICINE BUDDHA – BHAISHAYAGURU – SENGYE MENLA.
The Master of Medicine is depicted sitting in lotus position, his right hand holds a branch of arura (myrobolans) and his left hand carries a bowl that contains medical remedies. He has the colour of the lapis-lazuli. Its main activity is to alleviate the sufferings of beings through the art of medicine.
He resides in the east. The Medicine Buddha’s compassion encompasses the sufferings of the infinite numbers of beings. He is surrounded by 7 other Buddhas.
