The Buddha of infinite light.
Amitabha is the most ancient of all the Dhyani Buddhas. He is said to reside in the Sukhavati Heaven in peaceful meditation. He is red in color originating from the red syllable HRIH. He represents the cosmic element of Sanjna (name). His vehicle is a peacock. He is often shown in a Samadhi mudra with his two palms folded one over the other on his lap. Lotus is his symbol. When represented in a stupa, he is always facing west. His consort is Pandara. He is sometimes shown holding a Patra in this same posture as well.
