Thousand armed Buddha of compassion.
Represented with eleven heads and a thousand arms.
The first pair of his eight main hands, holds to his heart a wish-fulfilling jewel; the second pair holds a lotus flower and crystal rosary; the third pair holds a bow and arrow, representing method and wisdom, and a eight-spiked wheel of the Buddha’s attitude; in his lower left hand he holds a vase containing the nectar of immortality and his lower right hand is held palm open in the mudra of mercy and the generosity of giving the highest happiness.
Avalokeshwara has three rows of head, each with three faces colored white red and green, which represents the three manifestation bodies of the Buddha. ( Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya and Nirmanakaya. ) Above these head are the blue wrathful head of Vajrapani and the red head of Amitabha.
